Red (Fire Truck from Cars) Birthday Cake

Here's a special cake for a little boy who just turned three.  It was a challenge for me to make the cake look like Red, while not going crazy trying to match every tiny detail of him.  This is the first time I've made a cake to model an actual character.  While planning this cake out before I started, I realized that the most important part to nail would be the face and eyes.

Red was made by dividing a 9x13 into 3 equal parts on layering them, then icing and wrapping in red fondant (plus black, sliver and white accents).

My friend Julie ordered this for her nephew who is from out of town, and I was so happy that they loved this cake and thought it looked just like Red.

Jungle Theme Baby Shower Cake

Okay, so first of all, I have to say how much I LOVE the message my friend Natalie told me to write on this cake!!!  What could be better for a jungle-themed shower and nursery?
How fitting is that?

I piped a brown vine with leaves around the top as a border...

...and grasses and leaves around the bottom and sides.

A cute jungle cake for Baby Bradley!

Football Field Cake

How can you make a round cake resemble a football field?  I was asked to make a football cake by my friend Heather and came up with this design:

I cut white fondant into even strips and my Ateco number cutters for the yard lines around the sides, and green grass around the borders.

I really loved the way this cake turned out!  The best part was when the birthday boy came to pick it up with his dad.  The huge smile on his face and the at least ten Thank You's I got from him made me so happy that he loved his cake.

Baptism Cake

My friend Julie asked me to make a small Baptism cake for her sweet little Andrew

This is an 8" layer cake decorated in delicate pastels.  I wanted it to have a very simple look yet also suit the precious occasion it celebrates.

Super Mario Cake!

I've always appreciated my friend Jill's awesome sense of humor (she's an Army wife with three little boys, so I think it's mandatory for her to have one).  When she asked me to make this theme cake for a birthday party for her two oldest, I was up to the challenge.  I made some gold coins, brick blocks, rock layers and of course those trademark blue skies, puffy clouds and green hills you remember from the game.  Jill had some figurines for me to add to the top to finish it perfectly.

Firefighter Helmet Cake

Authentic Firefighter Helmet Cake
With the help of my husband, we worked on this cake to replicate a fire helmet.  The dome-shaped cake was frosted and draped in black fondant, and I tried very hard to capture some of the most important details.  From the stitching (my model happened to be a leather helmet) to the eagle holding the badge in place, there is a lot of important details that I knew a firefighter would appreciate.
This is a cake I hope to offer for retirements, promotions and birthday celebrations.  I can also place it atop a sheet cake so it will serve a larger crowd (the cake pictured will yield approx. 24 servings).  I will also match the helmet style, name, number, and other important details of your firefighter.
