Sweet and Simple Birthday Cake

My friend Kelli called me for a small birthday cake for an Origami Owl meeting. Origami Owl is a company that makes customizable jewelry, and I really love their stuff.   I made this 6" with the pastel turquoise and white colors on the Origami Owl packages.

Minnie Mouse Cake

Here's a 12" Birthday cake I made for our sweet friend Eiley!

The mouse ears on top are made of fondant, as are the mouse logos on the sides.

Kaycie's Second Birthday! (Olympic Cake)

Since this is probably the last time I will be able to pick a birthday party theme myself, I had some fun planning Kaycie's party to have an Olympic Games feel.

Fondant 2 topper.  Olympic rings piped onto top tier.   Great wreath piped around top of middle tier.

We had a great time at the party.  I planned several little events for the kids to compete in.  We had great weather and were even able to have a potato sack race in the backyard:

Kaycie getting ready to blow out the candles on her "Happy Doo-Doo Cake"  (that's how she pronounces Happy Birthday right now. so adorable)

We had a blast celebrating this little cutie's second birthday.  Happy Birthday Kaycie Marie!

Cowboy First Birthday (Red Bandanna Cake)

I was referred by a good photographer friend Jen Honeycutt to do a first birthday cake for a friend of hers.  I was so excited to do a bandanna look for a cake, because I knew it would be a good piping challenge!
Here's a photo of the cake with the bandanna used for design inspiration. On the left is the smash cake, a 6" single layer cake.

Botox Cake

This cake was made for a guy with a great sense of humor who happens to work with some dermatologists with equally great senses of humor.  They requested an "IV Bag full of Botox" for his 50th Birthday office celebration.

Using a photo of the actual tiny-sized Botox container, we made a IV Bag version for this cake.

Kitten Cake (Marie from Aristocats)

I received an order from my friend Bonnie, wanting a "Kitty Cat Cake" for her daughter's birthday.  She didn't have too many specifics, just to use her favorite colors pink & purple.

One of my favorite Disney movie is The Aristocats, so I decided to use little Marie for the cake.

If you're not familiar with the Movie, here she is:

I'm not much of a cat person, but I really love this movie.  The personalities in it are just hilarious.  Plus, Thomas O'Malley reminds me a little of my Dad :)

Here is the cute final birthday cake:

Magic Theme Cake

This two-tier cake was for a magic-themed birthday party.  The top hat tier is a 3-layer 6" cake, with the brim a fondant covered 8" cake circle.  The rabbit is gumpaste, and the scarves and cards are fondant.
The bottom tier is a 10" cake iced in buttercream.  The name and age were done on cardstock that I used a metallic gold effect to give it an old-timey circus look.  My customer was inspired by the cake here and requested something very similar for her birthday boy.

Star Wars Clone Trooper Cupcakes

I was asked by my friend Dawn to create some cupcakes that were Clone Troopers.

Not being very Stars Wars savvy, I had to do a little research on what exactly a Clone Trooper looks like:

I came up with these simple little cupcakes using only piping techniques:
