25th Anniversary Cake

I had the joy a making this elegant cake for a friend whose parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.  My friend Julie was throwing a small bash for family and had been loving some white fondant and metallic silver combinations.  We came up with this cake.

The cake was covered in a homemade fondant.  The metallic silver bow was a gum paste/ fondant mixture rolled out, shaped, and airbrushed with a metallic food coloring.  The 25 on top and silver ribbon around the base are thick cuts of rolled fondant, sprayed silver.

The date was painted by hand onto a rectangular piece of fondant and attached to the cake with clear piping gel.

I am so pleased with how the fondant turned out on this cake.  I was able to try some new techniques and am so happy with the final result.

Sweet Baby Boy Shower Cake

I was asked to make a cake for a baby shower welcoming little 5 week old Michael to our MOPS family (Mothers of Preschoolers, an amazing organization!).

I love the vertical lines and swirl combination along the side.

I drew a cute mommy & baby sheep duo on the top with a small star tip.
I love the simplicity and that it was created with only 3 icing colors.

Flowers and Teapot Birthday Cake

Jaala had specific instructions for her 6th Birthday cake- Flowers, teapots, pink, and purple.  I came up with a sweet and girly design to fit in with her Birthday tea party.  I made lots of drop flowers and ribbon roses to adorn the cake, and cut a teapot out of pink fondant.

I also added white tendrils of varying sizes hanging from the rose border to give the sides of the cake a little something without adding additional color.

This cake used a multitude of techniques I learned in Wilton course 1.  I really enjoyed making it for Jaala's special day.
